Citizen's
call results in discovery of stolen truck
web
posted September 18, 2007
MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether man reported a
suspicious vehicle parked on the 1700 block of Martintown Road Saturday
morning and after a deputy responded to the report he found a 1999
Chevrolet Suburban that had windows damaged and spray paint on the
exterior among other damage inside and outside of the truck.
The windows appeared to have been broken from the inside of the truck
at the location the truck was found as glass was noted on the ground
around the doors. The steering column had also been broken with some
sort of tool to expose the wiring to the ignition.
The interior of the vehicle had also been damaged with the seats cut
and spray paint found on the inside. A check of the vehicle
identification number found to truck to be stolen from Warrington
County in Georgia. It was reported stolen earlier the same day.
Authorities there were notified of the recovery of the truck and it was
towed and stored and will be turned over to the owner of the Warrington
Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.
At least three stolen vehicles have been recovered in Edgefield County
this year due to tips from residents.
