  Seatbelt prevents injury in Friday afternoon crash web posted September 27, 2008  MERRIWETHER – A
North Augusta man escaped
serious injury Friday afternoon due to wearing a seatbelt. The man was
traveling southbound on Murrah Road and ran off the right hand side of
the road after rounding a curve and the wet grass then caused the car
to begin to slide out of control.The Honda sedan slid approximately 70 yards before sliding sideways down and embankment and slamming into a tree at the front of the driver’s door. The impact spun the sedan around and it landed on the other side of the tree.  The man suffered
only minor scrapes in the crash.The Merriwether Fire Department was called to the scene after deputies began smelling gas. The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The cause of the crash is expected to be driving too fast for conditions due to the rain slick roads. ©
