Recent
theft in Moore Road area unrelated to rash of crimes
web
posted September 28, 2007
MERRIWETHER – The Moore Road area
continued to be a source of thefts, break-ins, and larcenies recently
with a report of a stereo and CD collection taken from a car at a home
on the 300 block of Cheves Creek that came in on Wednesday. Due to the
rash of thefts in the area an investigator was also summoned to the
scene.
According to police records, the North Augusta woman reported that she
left her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu at the home on Monday and discovered the
theft when she returned on Wednesday. Taken from the car was a JVC CD
Player and approximately $175 worth of CD’s. Damage to the car related
to the theft was estimated at $200.
With damages and theft the total loss was listed as $753.
Although Sheriff’s Investigators believe several of the recent thefts
are being committed by the same person or persons, this case is said to
be unrelated and they are focusing on a separate suspect.
