Greg's Gas Plus location opens in
Merriwether Friday Edgefielddaily.com web posted October 20, 2005 BELOW: Manager Leslie Dubois serves the first customer at the new store in a pre-grand opening gathering The new Greg’s Gas Plus has covered islands and diesel fuel, “We’re going to carry both over the road and farm grade diesel, “Mr. Kendrick said. Leslie Dubois, the manager of Sportsman’s Corner, was moved to the new location and long time employee Donna Gay assumes the helm at Sportsman’s. Mr. Kendrick said he hoped the new location would help to lower gas prices in the area. His Greg’s Gas Plus stations are usually some of the lowest prices and Sportsman’s Corner, which is owned by him as well, has topped our Weekly Gas Survey as the lowest price in the county. Mr. Kendrick said he intends to begin construction of the new Sportsman’s, “very shortly,” and that he was looking for the right plan in order to keep the “rustic look,” the location is famous for. The new building would be completed behind the present location so that daily business is not disrupted. Once the store is ready to open the present location will be demolished and the gas islands completed. The hope is to have some pumps functional before the present location is torn down Mrs. Dubois said in an earlier interview.
