at the reception in Atlanta as her mother looks on

ATLANTA – Strom Thurmond Beta Graduate Leia Blackwell and family traveled to Atlanta on Thursday to be honored for her being awarded a five thousand dollar scholarship from the Georgia Securities Association. With dignitaries from across the country present GSA President Warren Hamilton presented the check to Leia Blackwell saying that she, “attends the University of South Carolina (at Aiken), being a Georgia graduate we’ll have to work on that.”

After the presentation the family was treated to a reception with officials from the NASDAQ, New York Stock Exchange, and other Securities Association members. Ms. Blackwell said she was very thankful for the scholarship and has placed it in a savings account as she continues her degree in History and then focusing on a degree in law at the USC main campus.

Leia’s mother, Genia Blackwell, Operations Manager and Vice-President at Smith Barney in Augusta, said she was very proud of her daughter, “she’s very bright and I know she will succeed in anything she chooses to do.”

Due to the trip to Atlanta EdgefieldDaily.com will have a limited report today as the Editor happens to be the proud father.
