Merriwether home of most recent midday burglary
web
posted October 22, 2009
MERRIWETHER – Another Merriwether home was
found burglarized on Wednesday afternoon. Deputies and Investigators
were called to the home on the 300 block of Murrah Road after the owner
returned and found the front and back doors open. A complete list of
items taken has not been compiled at this writing, however; several
firearms are reportedly missing.
The 911 call came in around 2 pm and deputies arrived a short time
later. Once it was confirmed that an unknown person or persons made a
forced entry through the back door they entered to make sure no
suspects were still inside the home. An investigator and the Crime
Scene Forensic Unit were then called to the scene.
Investigators spent the next three hours processing the home for
evidence and trying to compile a list of property stolen with the help
of the homeowner.
According to available information, the homeowner was gone from the
home a relatively short period of time on Wednesday when the crime took
place.
Official reports will not be available until Thursday, which may
provide more details.
The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office has long asked citizens to pay
attention to suspicious vehicles or persons in their community and to
call 911. Such citizen participation led to the arrest of a suspected
burglar who broke into as many as a dozen homes earlier this year.
