Martintown Road home burglarized

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted October 27, 2005

EDGEFIELD – A Martintown Road home was discovered to have been burglarized Monday while the owner was away. At least two bedrooms were ransacked and jewelry totaling more than $3,300 was missing.

The homeowner, who lives on the 3500 block of Martintown Road, told Deputy George Dedmondt that the burglary would have taken place between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:30 pm while they were away from the house. The burglar(s) took an iron porch decoration and threw it through the glass in the back door. Once inside, drawers in the bedrooms had been searched and the homeowner stated a size 7 diamond and sapphire white gold ring with an inscription in gold in the band, a 3 karat diamond tennis bracelet, as well as a gold bracelet was missing.

The total value of the jewelry was estimated at $3,340. Damage to the door was said to be $200.

The home was checked for fingerprints and a boot print was found inside the home. Behind the home Deputy Dedmondt found tire tracks which belonged to a smaller framed vehicle. The investigation has been taken over by Investigator Chris Aston and is continuing.
