Merriwether man stabbed over the weekend Edgefielddaily.com web posted October 31, 2005 MERRIWETHER – Saturday night saw the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office responding to a call of a stabbing in Merriwether. Details of the episode are still sketchy but initial information is two individuals who were drinking heavily were outside in or near a car when one began stabbing the other for no apparent reason at a home on Briggs Haven Circle. A woman who was standing near the man being stabbed began to scream and neighbors came to her and the man’s rescue. Deputies arrived on the scene to find the man who did the stabbing gone, sources at the scene told EdgefieldDaily.com. Deputies and investigators were on the scene till daybreak trying to sort out the details and photograph the scene. The man suspected in the stabbing was said to be from the Santee-Cooper area and his whereabouts were unknown we were told. The victim was said to have been stabbed in the back and cut in a couple other areas. He was trasported to MCG for treatment.
