  Burglars make off with over $3,000 in tools and equipment web posted November 10, 2006 MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether man notified the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office of a theft from his garage Monday night. According to the man, someone broke into his garage at his home on the 500 block of Sweetwater Road and stole over $3,000 worth of tools and lawn equipment. According to police reports a deputy arrived at the scene and was shown where someone had broken into the garage via a broken door that was unable to be locked and made off with a toolbox with assorted tools and other items in and around the area. Among the missing items was an assortment of hand tools, two chainsaws, a JBL speaker box, and a Husquavarna weed eater. The total value of the tools was listed at $3,700. The case has been forwarded on to investigators for follow-up. For
