Early morning crash sends one to MCG

web posted November 18, 2008
MERRIWETHER – An early morning crash sent a Garrett Road man to MCG and left another driver and her passenger uninjured. The collision took place shortly before 7:30 on Martintown Road at the entrance to Millcreek Subdivision. EMS, Merriwether First Responders, and Sheriff’s Deputies arrived minutes later.

According to information obtained on the scene, the driver of the Chevrolet HHR was traveling eastbound on Martintown Road when the driver of a Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck was unable to stop at the stop sign on Millcreek Drive. As the pickup entered the roadway the HHR struck the truck on the front passenger side.

The HHR careened off the truck and came to rest in a ditch on a steep embankment. The truck was able to make it to the westbound shoulder.

The driver of the HHR was immobilized and transported to MCG for treatment of injures, none thought to be serious at the time.

The driver of the Chevy Z71 said she was taking her daughter to school for a field trip when the crash occurred. Neither she nor her daughter was injured. All involved were said to have been wearing seatbelts at the time if the crash.
