Vandals
strike Merriwether Middle School over holiday
web
posted November 26, 2007
MERRIWETHER –
Vandals struck the
Merriwether Middle School sometime Friday night or early Saturday
morning. School officials reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office
around 11 am and met with a deputy who processed the scene for
evidence. Several windows were shot, one broken completely out, and a
large area of the windows were “egged”.
The vandals fled the school in an unknown type of vehicle and possibly
traveled down Mealing Road where several mailboxes and street signs
were also vandalized and egged in both directions of the road.
The
amount of damage done to the school was estimated at several
hundred dollars. The vandals are believed to have used a B-B gun to
shoot several of the windows.
Saturday evening around 6 pm a woman traveling westbound on Martintown
Road reported a window in her car being shot out with a B-B gun as she
passed Murrah Road, which is just a short distance from the school. It
is unknown if the two incidents may be related.
