![]() Merriwether man discovers 3 am break-in web posted November 28, 2006 MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether man reported that as he was driving by his home on the 500 block of Sweetwater Road around 3 am Sunday morning when he noticed two white males backed up to his garage and standing inside. The man notified the Sheriff’s Office and tried to block the men in at the driveway. The men jumped into a late 90’s model black Thunderbird and “spun out” around him. The man then gave chase of the car down Sweetwater Road. According to incident reports the Thunderbird had the back window broken out and was covered with plastic and drove towards Highway 25. Once entering the highway they turned towards Edgefield County before turning around and driving into Aiken County. No tag number could be obtained by the homeowner. The two men reportedly made off with two sets of industrial work lights and a freezer full of deer meat. An investigator arrived on the scene and processed it for evidence. On Monday a warrant was issued for at least one of the suspects in the case on the charge of burglary in the first degree, though the identity of the suspect was not available at this writing. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office also contacted Aiken County authorities to be on the lookout for the suspect’s car, which had been spotted earlier in the day Monday. Reports indicate the value of the items stolen to be around $220. For
