Daytime burglary reported in Merriwether
web
posted November 29, 2007
MERRIWETHER – A young Merriwether couple
arrived home after work Wednesday to discover their home on the 400
block of Sweetwater Road had been the scene of a daylight burglary. The
couple arrived at the home just after 4 pm to find the side door of the
home forced open and called the Sheriff’s Office to report the crime.
Deputies arrived and called for an investigator to respond to the scene
after checking to make sure no one was still in the home.
Reportedly stolen from the home was a 27” HDTV, valued at over $900,
along with a computer and a Play Station gamming unit.
Sheriff’s Investigator Curtis Burton, who is handling the
investigation, said the crime is believed to have taken place between
the hours of 2:30 and 4:30 pm. Evidence was collected at the scene but
the nature of the evidence was not disclosed citing the ongoing
investigation.
The couple just recently moved into the home a few months ago. The
total value of the items reported taken were not available.
Residents should be aware that break-ins generally increase as the
Christmas holiday approaches and neighbors should report suspicious
activity or unfamiliar people around neighbors’ homes.
