Edgefield resident identified as man killed in Saturday's shooting
web posted December 4, 2005

NORTH AUGUSTA – The Aiken County Coroner has identified the man shot in the road rage shooting on Martintown Road Saturday afternoon. He is Mark Y. Sharrock, 49, of Edgefield, SC.

According to Detective Tim Thornton of the NAPD Mr. Sharrock struck a trailer being towed by Clarence Shehan, 51, of Pickens County while traveling east of Martintown Road. Mr. Shehan pulled over to assess the damage when Mr. Sharrock pulled along side of him and the two exchanged words. Mr. Sharrock took off and Mr. Shehan followed him and tried to call 911 to report the accident.

Before Mr. Shehan could reach 911 operators Mr. Sharrock stopped abruptly and attacked Mr. Shehan by hitting and choking him. Mr. Shehan was able to reach a .45 caliber pistol and shot Mr. Sharrock once, killing him. Mr. Shehan then called 911 to report the incident.

No charges have been filed against Mr. Shehan at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
