Truck, Chainsaws and Gear Stolen

web posted December 11, 2013

MERRIWETHER A Westwood Court man called the Sheriff's Office to report a worker had made off with the truck and $1,700 worth of chainsaws and climbing gear. The worker told the man he was interested in buying the truck and wanted to drive it for a few days. A few days later he stopped showing up to work and disappeared.

The truck is a white single cab 1999 GMC 1500. The suspect also took an orange Husqvaran 372X chainsaw, an orange Stihl 200T chainsaw and tree climbing gear.

It is believed the man took a SC tag (IKS 854) off another vehicle in his yard.

The man was able to proved the deputy with all of the suspects information. The suspect may be headed to Beaufort SC, where he previously lived.

The truck and the tag have been put on NCIC crime reporting systems. The case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
