Fox Creek High's Santa’s Helper Brightens Christmas

web posted December 23, 2013

MERRIWETHER – Fox Creek High School is ten years old this year and for all ten years Fox Creek has helped at Christmas by serving children in the CSRA, the last eight of those concentrating specifically on families in the Merriwether community. Each year ten to twelve families with a total of 22 to 25 children receive clothes, shoes, toys, bicycles, and sports equipment. In the past the Fellowship of Christian Athletes sponsored Santa’s Helper but for the last three years Teacher Cadets have undertaken the activity.

The entire school gets involved by classrooms and clubs adopting a child and buying specifically for that child. Santa’s Helper coordinator and Teacher Cadet instructor Nancy Cowart stated: “Fox Creek always exemplifies a giving spirit and a warm heart, but Santa’s Helper seems to give a special joy because young children are served. What touches our hearts the most is knowing children in our own community will wake up Christmas morning with gifts under the tree.”

Fox Creek, through Santa’s Helper, has made a difference in the Merriwether community.
