 Baby in Christmas Night Crash Dies web posted December 29, 2011  MERRIWETHER – A Christmas night collision
has claimed the life of a 5-month-old baby boy, Edgefield County
Coroner Thurmond Burnett said Thursday. Ziare Smith, of Muncie Indiana
was pronounced dead at MCG Wednesday afternoon after being removed from
a ventilator at 2:51 pm. "Severe head injury was the cause of death,"
Burnett said. There was no update available on the others injured in
the collision.This marks the eleventh fatality on Edgefield County roads, believed to be the deadliest year on record.  The collision took place when the car

seat at the time of the crash. Two other women in the car were also
transported by ambulance to MCG. A third woman sustained only minor
