Merriwether's Travis Grose named a South Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year

web posted October 31, 2012

MERRIWETHER – Congratulations to Travis Grose from Merriwether Middle School. Travis Grose, a 7th grader at Merriwether Middle, has been named a South Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year! This honor was announced September 10th by YEScarolina. He is one of 10 students, statewide that received this honor.

On June 13th, Travis competed in the Mark Motley Foundation Statewide Business Plan Competition. This was hosted by YEScarolina and the College of Charleston. Travis presented his individual business plan which was an overview of his lawn care company.

Travis has now been invited on November 1st to Charleston to Memminger Auditorium for a Gala to present his business idea to Gala attendees. Gala attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about his business. This opportunity opens the door for Travis to network and meet influential entrepreneurs. Many students in the past have made significant sales at this event.

Travis will also receive an award of $250 and the title, “South Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year”.

Travis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Grose of Merriwether. Travis is a student in Mrs. Jean Vess’s entrepreneurship class at Merriwether Middle.
