$50 purse reported stolen, with $25,000 inside web posted March 29, 2006 MURPHY VILLAGE – A Murphy Village woman reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon that someone stole her $50 purse and made off with $25,000 in cash. The woman told investigators the crime occurred on Friday but she did not report it until Monday hoping to retrieve the money herself. According to the woman, her father-in-law had given her the money to deposit into her bank account. She went to visit a disabled friend and as she arrived at the home she left her Hummer H3 running and the door only partially shut. As she got to the door of the home she saw a purple SUV pulling into the driveway. She said she stepped inside the home for just a moment and when she exited she saw a woman running from her Hummer towards the SUV with her purse. The woman jumped into her Hummer and gave pursuit of the SUV at speeds “near 100 mph”. Due to the speeds the woman said she stopped chasing the three occupants of the SUV. Later she spotted the woman who allegedly stole the purse in another car and approached her demanding the money back. When she denied knowing anything about the theft, it was reported. The case has been handed over to investigators and three subjects have been named. The case is still under investigation and police are still looking for the three subjects. For
