  Murphy Village woman jumps to death from bridge web posted November 24, 2006 NORTH AUGUSTA – A Murphy Village woman was discovered by Aiken County authorities sitting on the edge of the overpass of Interstate 20 at exit 5 Wednesday morning around 9 am. An Aiken County deputy arrived on the scene and reportedly walked towards the woman before she jumped to her death. Mary Carroll, 62, of Murphy Village was pronounced dead at the Medical College of Georgia’s Trauma Unit shortly after arrival as a result of the injuries received in the 35 to 40 foot fall. It is unknown at this point of the investigation what led to the incident. Aiken County authorities said there might have been medical issues involved. For
