Arrests of Hispanics increase number reported to Immigration Officials
web
posted December 22, 2007
MERRIWETHER – Sheriff’s Deputies called to
check out two suspicious vehicles in Mt. Vintage ended up arresting two
Hispanic males Thursday night. Once again Federal Officials with the
Immigrations and Customs Enforcement are being notified. When a deputy
asked one of the two drivers for his drivers license, Carmona
Altamirano Filemon, 32, gave the deputy three Mexican identification
cards, one containing his picture but a different name.
Upon further investigation it was found that Mr. Filemon also has
paycheck stubs that contained yet another name. He was arrested for no
drivers’ license. Due to the multiple names presented by Mr. Filemon
reports state warrants for forgery will also be sought and officials
with ICE were being contacted. His Ford F150 pickup truck was towed
from the scene.
The second man, Rena Chonteco Cruz, 32, presented deputies with a South
Carolina ID card that came back to him. However, Cruz was arrested for
driving without a license and was transported along with Filemon to the
Edgefield County Detention Center for booking.
The arrests come on the heels of four others
arrested on Sunday when nine Hispanic men were caught firing a
fully automatic AK-47 and almost a dozen other guns at the Beaver Dam
Shooting Range. Immigration officials were contacted for possible
deportation of at least one the four arrested.
