Myers returns car, could face disciplinary
action from DWI Edgefielddaily.com web posted May 9, 2005 Edgefield County Solicitor Donnie Myers has issued a statement to the Lexington County offices he intends to return the Lincoln Town Car that is provided to him by the county of Lexington and the state, and in association with Edgefield County, until the matter of his recent arrest is resolved. As Edgefield Daily.com reported, Myers was arrested on DWI charges in Ashville NC on April 29, 2005. In addition to the charges NC officials have leveled against Myers, the South Carolina Supreme Court is also set to hear complaints on the outcome of those charges. However, regardless of the outcome of the legal challenges that lay before Solicitor Myers in NC are complaints from the citizenry of Edgefield, McCormick, Saluda, and Lexington Counties. “We have no doubt there will be letters of complaint,” one source said. Once such a complaint is leveled, and in the face of the recent coverage of the events the Judicial Review Board, and the SC Supreme Court, is “duty bound” to investigate, he said. Where that leaves embattled Solicitor Myers is anyone’s guess. “They will conduct hearings, and those are not public, to determine what, if any, action should be taken,” the source said. Only the results of the investigation are made public they said. Phone calls to Myers’ office were not returned as he was in Las Vegas, Nevada for a conference at this writing.
