Free Weather Spotter course offered web posted February 26, 2009 NORTH AUGUSTA – The North Augusta-Belvedere Radio Club is sponsoring a Severe Weather Spotter Training seminar on March 9. The seminar is designed to serve the citizens of Edgefield and Aiken Counties and is open to anyone interested for free. Steve Naglic, Warning Coordination Meteorologist for the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Columbia will present the training. The training will cover the basic certification as a SKYWARN weather spotter. SKYWARN spotters are essential information sources for the National Weather Service for all types of weather hazards. Topics will include different types of thunderstorms, tornado classifications, supercells, and Spotter Reporting Procedures. The training will be held at the Aiken Regional Medical Center, Rooms A and B, located on the 6th floor beginning at 7:30 pm, Monday March 9. Pre-registration is not required.
