Barrett pushes for troop funding web posted April 26, 2007 WASHINGTON DC – Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (R-SC) spoke on the House floor on Wednesday supporting a clean bill funding the military in Iraq. "Madam Speaker, 79 Days and counting since President Bush submitted a request for critical funding needed by our troops fighting on the front lines. The Democrat leadership should bring the emergency supplemental to the floor without a timeline of defeat - it is not our decision to arbitrarily pick a date this war will end. It is our job to ensure our military personnel have the resources they need to win and come home in Victory. I wonder what the men and women risking their lives everyday for our safety, our security our freedom think about the fact that members of Congress - sitting in their comfortable offices - are playing politics with their money? Madam Speaker, I came to the House floor this morning to speak to them and let them know that there are members of Congress who believe our military can succeed and we are doing everything in our power to ensure victory. As long as I am a United States Congressman I will never turn my back on you. I will not stand in Washington, DC and tell your generals how to fight this war and I will never put politics above your safety or that of our nation." For
