Edgefield Daily.com thanks readers Edgefielddaily.com web posted June 17, 2005 Edgefield Daily.com would like to take this time to thank the many readers who have contributed to our site and our popularity. Since going online in early March we have seen our traffic on the site double each month and this month is no different. Just two weeks into June we surpassed last month's total of 12,847 pages veiwed with over 17,000 by June 15. For this we owe each and every reader and visitor our deepest gratitude. Because of this we see that we will need to upgrade our site before the year is out and it is far better to do it now rather than latter, the more content on the site means longer down time. We are not a big operation, rather a few people who freely contribute their time and efforts to provide Edgefield County with daily updates on what is going on. Since we are doing the upgrades “in-house”, doing them later would freeze the site for as long as two weeks and that was unacceptable. We thank everyone for their patience during this time. We expect to be unable to update for five days. All content presently on the site will still be available to our readers during this time. When we complete the upgrades there will be a new look to the layout of the site as well. (Older pages will remain as they were.) We believe the new format will make navigating the site easier and we will add new capabilities such as webcasting with video and audio. Due to the fact many internet users in our county are still on dial-up connections we will make limited use of these features for now and will try to use formats (Windows and Mac based) that will download quicker on a 56K connection. All to provide Edgefield County with the latest updates on county events and all for free. Edgefield Daily.com does not charge for access to our site, ALERTS!, classifieds, or our public forums. We believe information is free and cannot be owned or sold and are happy to provide Edgefield County with a way to obtain that information. By linking our updates to other sources of information we feel it allows readers to go beyond the content of the site and become even more informed on the issues that confront all residents. Something you will see more of with the new format. We believe in relaying residents concerns in their own viewpoint untainted by opinion. We leave our opinions for the Editorial Section. We believe fully in, “tell it like it is,” and allow readers to draw their own conclusions from the information and form their own opinions. We believe the good people of Edgefield County are better served when everything is out in the open where government is concerned be it our law enforcement, judiciary, county or local governing bodies, schools, or politics, a belief that pleases some government agencies and irritates others.
