EdgefieldDaily.com breaks all time records in August
web
posted August 28, 2009
WEBNEWS – EdgefieldDaily.com has set all
time records this month with over 1.57 million hits already
registered in August and the final totals are estimated to be between
1.7 and 1.8 million hits by the month’s end. Records show readers have
viewed over 3.2 million pages in the last twelve months and accessed
over 10 million files.
According to statistics, readers seek out between 8,000 and 11,000
pages a day in local news reports. Records show an average of 20,000
unique internet user addresses visiting EdgefieldDaily.com each month.
“When EdgefieldDaily.com was founded we never expected to receive
200,000 hits a month, and now we are knocking on the door of 2
million,” founder Roy Blackwell said. “It is obvious that the news
product EdgefieldDaily.com provides is well received by readers and
further shows that the trend is gearing towards online news over the
printed media.”
“They (local papers) are here once a week,” he said, “we are here every
day.” Blackwell said the fact breaking news could be online within an
hour is also an advantage, “It would be next week before you could read
about a major breaking story in the local papers. That is something
they could, but refuse to provide, on their web sites. Their job is to
sell papers; our job is to provide news when it happens free of charge
for our readers.”
EdgefieldDaily.com has also been cited as the source for Edgefield
County news countless times over the past five years in television news
broadcasts and not one major story making the regional news has been
cited as coming from any other local media outlet.
“I think that speaks volumes in the coverage we provide,” Blackwell
said.
