Fallaw’s take top honors in Christmas Tree Contest
web
posted December 29, 2008
WEBNEWS – The EdgefieldDaily.com Christmas
Tree contest was an exciting event that saw the lead change hands
several times over the ten day voting period. Votes continued to come
in until the Sunday deadline at midnight. When all the votes were
counted one contestant took the lead by a mere two percent of votes
cast.
The family Christmas tree of Helen Fallaw (click on the picture to the
left for a larger view), of Edgefield, was able to
stave off a rush of votes for other leading trees on Saturday and
Sunday to
become our first Christmas Tree Decorating Contest winner. Mrs.
Fallaw’s family Christmas tree received 22% of the total vote for the
twelve entries and will be awarded the $50 cash prize.
Other top contenders were Kayla and Buster
Newman of Johnston who
ranked second with 20% of the votes followed by Selisa Cox of
Merriwether with 16%.
Three others rounded out the top six receiving between 12 and 14% of
the votes. They included Tonja Hutcherson of
Johnston, Sharon
Storck of
North Augusta, and Joyce Derrick of
Johnston, respectively.
