Stolen truck found wrecked in Saluda County

web posted June 26, 2007
NORTH SIDE – A Walker Road woman came home from the lake on Sunday morning to find her 2003 Ford F-150 truck missing from her driveway and reported the theft to the Sheriff’s Office. The woman told the deputy that she keeps a spare set of keys in an outdoor cabinet and they, too, were missing.

While the deputy was investigating the theft Saluda County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol notified the Edgefield County Sheriff’s office that a truck matching the description had been found wrecked in Saluda County early Sunday morning.

According the Saluda County Sheriff’s Office the truck hit a telephone pole and several peach trees between Ward and Ridge Spring on Highway 23 and was heavily damaged. Inside the truck was said to be noticeable blood and a check of local hospitals for persons involved in a crash were fruitless.

The case has been turned over to investigators for follow up and there were no listed suspects on police reports. The value of the truck was listed at $20,000.
