Dead Calves Dumped off Adams Road

web posted February 21, 2013

NORTHSIDE – A Northside man called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office to report finding four dead black and white calves tossed down an embankment on Adams Road Tuesday afternoon. When the deputy arrived he observed the dead calves, two of which had started to decompose, and additional skeletal remains of other possible calves or cows that seemed to have been dumped in the past.

There were no tags or brands on the calves to identify the owner.

The man told the deputy that there is only one farm in the area that has calves and cows with similar markings and provided a name of the man in charge of disposing of dead calves. The man was also unsure when the last time he was by the area before noticing the dead calves.

South Carolina Department of Transportation workers were called to remove the remains. An incident report did not state if photographs were taken on the scene.

The report was marked that there was to be no follow-up investigation, although the case was marked "active".
