Children Report Home Invasion

web posted July 8, 2014

NORTHSIDE McCormick and Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a home on White Dansby Road for a home invasion that took place while a teen and her two younger siblings were inside around 5 am Saturday morning. One of the children stated they heard a loud knock on the back door and then the sound of glass breaking. The next thing they knew a black male dressed in all black entered the home.

The 17-year-old daughter called her mother who told her to hang up and call 911 and that she was on her way home. McCormick County Deputies arrived first and had the children outside when Edgefield County Deputies arrived. Deputies cleared the home and found no one inside.

According to an incident report, one of the sons was in his bedroom with his younger brother when he heard the man breaking into the home. The man walked down the hall and looked inside the bedroom where the two were, and then looked into the bedroom of his older sister, and continued towards their mother's bedroom. The two boys then ran into their sister's room for protection.

The report states the man walked to the mother's bedroom, turned on the light and after finding no one there turned and walked out of the house and began walking across the yard.

An Edgefield County Sheriff's Investigator arrived and processed the scene for evidence and is handling the investigation.

One of the children was able to provide a possible suspect.
