Two Churches Targeted by Burglars

web posted August 14, 2014

NORTHSIDE   Church members arriving early to prepare for Wednesday night services discovered their respective churches, located in the same general vicinity, had been burglarized and called the Sheriff's Office. The first report came in just after 5:30 pm from the Pleasant Lane Baptist Church on Peterson Lane, just off Highway 378. About an hour later dispatch received another call from nearby Pine Grove Pentecostal Church reporting a side door kicked in and property stolen.

A Sheriff's Deputy and an Investigator were already on the scene at Pleasant Lane Baptist gathering information and processing evidence when the second burglary was reported on nearby Faulkner Mountain Road. Additional deputies converged on the area checking other churches located in the same general vicinity.

Fortunately, no other churches were found burglarized.

A list of damages and missing property were not available as the investigations were in their initial stages. Available information did state that a PA system was taken from the Pine Grove Pentecostal Church.

Edgefield Daily will have an update on Friday as more information is released today.
