Obituary
Andrew Nickolas Anderson
web posted May 18, 2011
NORTH AUGUSTA – Mr. Andrew Nickolas Anderson, 33, of
North Augusta, SC, husband of Erica Clark Anderson, entered into rest
Sunday, May 15th, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with cancer
with his family at his side. Born in Augusta, GA and a resident of the
area most of his life, he was the son of Merrilee Anderson and the late
Thomas J. Anderson. A graduate of both the University of South Carolina
and Augusta State University, he had a BS in Business Administration
and a BA in Music. Andrew loved music, both playing as well as
teaching. He was also fond of playing video games. His love for music
was evident in the fact that he traveled abroad to Birka, Sweden, where
he taught and played in jazz groups at Birka Folkhogskola. He was a
drummer throughout the southeast for various bands. Prior to his health
declining, he taught percussion at Strom Thurmond High School. In
addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a brother, Alexander
B. Anderson, North Augusta, SC. At his request, Andrew will be cremated
and Pulsar will dedicate a concert in his memory, Thursday, May 26th,
2011, at 7 oclock in the Maude Edenfield Park, North Augusta, SC. The
family has asked that flowers be omitted and memorials in his memory be
made to the Augusta State University Foundation Wycliffe Gordon Jazz
Scholarship Fund, 2500 Walton Way Augusta, GA 30904. Visit
www.HatcherFuneralHome.com to share memories of Andrew. Friends are
invited to call at the home of his mother, Merrilee Anderson, 1907
Lodgepole Ave., North Augusta, SC, Saturday, May 21st, 2011, from 2
until 5 oclock. Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley,
SC.
