Abingdon, Virginia – Clarence Edwin
Bolton, Sr., 88, of Abingdon, Virginia died at his home Friday,
September 19, 2008.
He was born October 16, 1919 in Greenwood, South Carolina to the late
Joseph Everett and Pearl Irvin Bolton. He served in the US Army in the
European Theater of Operations during WWII, and was honorably
discharged in 1945. He was an active member of the Episcopal Church,
becoming a lay reader. He achieved 32nd degree Mason status while
living in Birmingham, Alabama. After retiring as an automotive
manufacturer representative based in Atlanta, Georgia for 31 years, he
had a shop in the craft market in Gatlinburg, Tennessee until moving to
Abingdon in 2001.
Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Georgia Jones Bolton; his son, C.E.
Bolton, Jr. and wife, Martha of Abingdon; a sister, Ann Connelly of
Edgefield, South Carolina; a brother, Joe E. Bolton, Jr. of Greenwood,
South Carolina; two grandsons, and two great great grandchildren.
A private service was held for the immediate family. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions to the American Heart Association are
requested. The family would like to thank all the caregivers and
Southwest Virginia Hospice for their help and support.
