Sybil Ward Burke

EDGEFIELD – Mrs. Sybil Ward Burke, 90, wife of the late Lee B. Burke Sr. went to be with the Lord Saturday Nov 29, 2008 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday 12-2-08 at 11 AM at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with burial in Westover Memorial Cemetery in Augusta, GA.

Mrs. Burke, a resident of Augusta for many years was a native of Winder, GA. She was the daughter of the late James Ward and Ada Page Ward.  Mrs. Burke retired from the Augusta Housing Authority in 1995. She was a founding member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Augusta. She was a devout Christian, touching the lives of many by the sharing her love of Jesus Christ. The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity for the care and kindness shown to her.

Survivors include 2 sons- Lee (Elinor) Burke of Edgefield and Donnie (Roxanne) Burke of Sunrise, FL. She was predeceased by another son, James Ronnie Burke. Grandchildren fondly remembering Granny Burke are Connie (Bo) Glover, Joy (Pete) Pack, Michael D. Burke, Monica (Ryan) McClellan, Christopher Burke, Ben (Michele) Burke, Brandon (Molly) Burke, and Ashley Burke. Additional survivors are 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and a very special niece, Shirley Hixon.

Pallbearer will be Mike Burke, Chris Burke, Pete Pack, Kyle Glover, Trey Glover and Tom Clark.

The family is at the home of Lee Burke, Pine Knoll Ext, Edgefield and will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.
