JOHNSTON – Funeral Services for Mr. James
William Gibson, age 84, will be held Friday, January 1, 2010 at 11 am
at Harmony United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church
cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bland Funeral Home
Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Gibson, a native of Edgefield
County, died Tuesday, December 29, 2009. He was the son of the late
William Franklin and Mattie Hair Gibson, was a retired farmer and also
retired from SCE&G. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, a member of
American Legion Post 154 and Kadosh Masonic Lodge 181 and was a member
of Harmony United Methodist Church . Survivors include his wife: Martha
Newton Gibson; daughter: Mary Katherine Gibson, Aiken; sons: James W,
Jr. (Jo), Thomas H. (Melanie), H. Michael (Dixie) and William A. Gibson
(Beth); grandchildren: Nickolas, Jessica, Perrin, LeAnn, Rucker and
Garrett Gibson. Memorials may be made to Harmony United Methodist
Church, P. O. Box 186, Johnston, SC 29832 or to Epworth Children's
Home, P. O. Box 50466, Columbia, SC 29250-9988
