Charlie A. Grimes, Jr. web posted February 12, 2011 NORTH AUGUSTA – Funeral Services for Mr. Charlie A. Grimes, Jr., 79, of Barbara Lane, North Augusta, SC, who entered into rest February 9, 2011, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Dr. Alan Tillman officiating. Interment in Pineview Memorial Park with Veterans Honors. Mr. Grimes was a native of Savannah, GA, having made North Augusta his home for the past 58 years. He was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a strong supporter of the Church and an avid student of the scriptures. Mr. Grimes was US Army veteran of the Korean War and also served during the Cold War Period. He retired from Westinghouse at the Savannah River Site and from EZGO-Textron. Mr. Grimes was a kind and generous man who loved helping and serving others. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Jo Ann Grimes. Survivors include his wife of 4 years, Laverne W. Grimes; a daughter, Ann G. Conder, Summerville, SC; a son and daughter-in-law, C. Dyson and Kathy Grimes, Harlem, GA; a sister, Barbara "Nean" Youngblood, Trenton, SC; five grandchildren, Tiffany N. Padgett, Brandi L. Masserant, Charles Grimes, Christopher Grimes and Addison "Chuck" Enevoldsen; 10 great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons from Bible Baptist Church. Active Pallbearers will be Charles Grimes, II, Christopher Grimes, Brian Masserant, Addison Enevoldsen, Scott Padgett and Preston Padgett. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening from 6 until 8. Memorials may be made to the Bible Baptist Church Building Fund, 384 Murrah Road, North Augusta, SC 29860.
