NORTH AUGUSTA – Funeral services for Mrs.
Amanda DeArmond Hightower, 94, of North Augusta, SC who entered into
rest July 14, 2008 will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock
from the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Dr. Eleazer Benenhaley and Dr. Paul
W. Noe officiating. Interment will be in the Sweetwater Baptist Church
Cemetery. Mrs. Hightower was a life-long resident of North Augusta. She
was a member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church and the Mary Stephens
Sunday School Class. She was wife of the late Mr. Hugh A. Hightower,
Sr. Survivors include four sons, Paul Hightower, Charleston, SC, Hugh
A. Hightower, Jr., Billy C. Hightower and Harry M. Hightower all of
North Augusta; eight daughters, Ellen Lacey, Spartanburg, SC, Martha
Wilhelm, Crocker, MO, Norma Gilmore, Jenny Prescott MacKenzie both of
Apopka, FL, Joyce Tollison, Atlanta, GA, Betty Anderson, Iris Grice and
Phyllis Warren, all of Augusta; 20 grandchildren, 25
great-grandchildren; 3 great-great- grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers
will be members of the Mary Stephens Sunday School Class. Active
Pallbearers will be grandsons. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9. Posey Funeral Directors of
North Augusta in charge of arrangements (803-278-1181).
