Dr. G. Badger Humphries Jr.

COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Dr. G.
Badger Humphries Jr., 64, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 4,
2011, in Mount of Olive Cemetery, Johnston, South Carolina. The family
will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine
Street Chapel.
Dr. Humphries died Monday, October 31, 2011. Born in Augusta, Georgia,
he was a son of Elaine Clark Humphries and the late George B. Humphries
Sr. He was a graduate of Strom Thurmond High School and attended the
University of South Carolina, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta
Kappa Society. Dr. Humphries was a 1972 graduate of the Medical
University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he was inducted into
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served his internship at
the School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and
his residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North
Carolina.
He was a physician with Pitts Radiological Associates at Providence
Hospital. In 2004, he was inducted into The Society of St. Luke,
established to recognize and honor selected members of the medical
staff of Providence Hospitals for their distinguished service to their
patients, the mission of the hospitals and the communities they serve.
He was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by Aliene S. Humphries; sons,
Badge Humphries (Christy) of Isle of Palms, and Charles Humphries
(Caroline) of Columbia; granddaughters, Brady Humphries and Salley
Humphries; and brother, Claude Humphries (Diane) of Johnston.
Memorials may be made to the Ray Tanner Foundation and designated for
the Miracle Field, 709 Woodrow Street, PMB 201, Columbia, SC 29205.
