William H. 'Bill' Jones, Jr.

NORTH AUGUSTA – Mr. William H. 'Bill' Jones, Jr., 72, of North Augusta, SC, beloved husband of fifty two years to Elizabeth Blazejewski Jones and son of the late W. Heyward, Sr. and Ruth Maxey Jones, entered into rest Sunday, September 12th, 2010. Born in Augusta, GA and a lifelong area resident, Bill entered the United States Air Force after graduating from L.B.C. in 1955. While stationed in France he met and married Elizabeth. He retired from Haverty's Furniture, Augusta, GA, after thirty-eight years of service as Manager and Vice President. He was a member of the L.B.C. Lions Club, was formerly a member the L.B.C. Jaycees, former member and on the Board of Directors of both the Optimist Club and the Georgia Home Furnishings Association. He was also past president of the Local Furniture Association. Prior to his health declining, he enjoyed a round of golf with his friends, fishing and playing cards. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta. In addition to his wife and parents, family members include daughters, Dr. Marilyn Jones Smith, (Robert) Marietta, GA, Cheryl Jones Moore, (Richard) North Augusta, SC, Loretta Jones Shirley, Pomarac, FL and Penny Jones Lanham, (Bob) Edgefield, SC; sister, Diane J. Boone, (Pete) Belvedere, SC; brother, the late Rhett A. Jones, (Brenda) Johnston, SC; grandchildren, Troy 'Eric' Cumbee, (Kristina) Michelle Nicole Moore Edwards, (John) Allison Elizabeth Smith, Stephanie Renee Moore, Brittany Diane Lanham, Kyle Preston Lanham, Alex William Shirley and Scott Michael Shirley, great-granddaughter, Kelsey Lynn Cumbee, aunt, Margie J. Brennan, North Augusta, SC; uncle, Marvin Jones, (Sarah) Augusta, GA; nieces, the late Gwyn Boone and Janet B. Dinkins, (Rudy) North Augusta, SC, nephew, Charles S. Boone, Lexington, SC and his four legged child, Mitzy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, September 16th, 2010, at 11 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Dr. Gary Redding officiating. Interment with veterans honors accorded will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC. Pallbearers will be Bob Smith, John Edwards, Bob Lanham, Richard Moore, David Owings, Rudy Dinkins and Charles Boone. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the 1955 graduating class of L.B.C. The family would like to express their appreciation to Hospice of America, especially nurse Victoria Richards.
