Arley Joe McCreery

Montvale, VA – Arley Joe McCreery, 77, of Montvale, VA
died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at his home. Born on April 4, 1934
in White Sulphur Springs, WV. A son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Edward H. McCreery. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded
in death by his brother, Ronald McCreery and his sister, Norma
McCreery. Joe is survived by four sons, Joel(Beth) McCreery,
Edgefield SC; Randy McCreery, Montvale VA; Daren(Angie) McCreery
Johnston SC; Tyler McCreery; a daughter, Shannon McDaniel, Roanoke VA
and seven grandchildren, Meghan, Dylan, Sarah, Sadie, Jessica, Josh and
Jonathon.
Joe graduated from White Sulphur Springs High School in 1952 and was
Senior Class President and President of the High Honor
Society. In 1956 Joe graduated from Duke University
with a B.A. degree in Accounting. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and
was also a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity Gamma Chapter. Joe
served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Veteran.
After his military service, he was employed with Price Waterhouse as a
C.P.A in Atlanta for several years after which he relocated to Roanoke
where he was employed by Schwartz & Co. In 1968 he purchased
the business where he served as President and CEO until his
retirement.
He was loved dearly by his children and will truly be missed by family
and friends. Memorials may be made to charity of choice. To
