Ruth Perkins New web posted January 21, 2008 JOHNSTON – Services for Mrs. Ruth Perkins New, age 98, will be held Monday, January 21, 2008 at 2 pm at Bland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Aiken County. The family is at the home of Mrs. Joyce Willing, 710 McCreight St. and will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 3- 5 pm. Memorials may be made to the Charity of One's Choice. Mrs. New, beloved wife of the late Hunter H. New, Sr. went to be with her heavenly Father on January 19, 2008. She was a daughter of the late Doc and Pearl Hughes Perkins. Mrs. New, a native of Aiken moved to Johnston after the loss of her dear husband of 57 years. She loved her family, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved music and spent many years serving as pianist for various churches, including Shiloh Baptist and Bethel Baptist in Aiken and Providence Baptist in Johnston. Mrs. New also enjoyed flower gardening. She was a member of First Baptist in Johnston. Survivors include: one daughter: Joyce New Willing, Johnston; two sons: Ronald O. New (Kathy), Aiken and Thomas M. New, Sr. (Pat), Lake Murray; special daughter: Brenda N. Hall (Milledge), Johnston; a brother: Robert (Dena) Woodward and a sister: Burnell (Frank) Landrum both of Newport News, Va.; a dear aunt, Mary Brewer, Aiken; 11 grandchildren: Mike Mitchell, Steve New, Debbie W. Adams, Rhonda M. Jones, Ricky New, Bridget Rhodes, William C. (Billy) Storey, Thomas Marshall New, Jr., Sharon N. Black, Jonathan E. Campbell, and Thomas Michael New; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Mrs. New was preceded in death by her husband, Hunter H. New, Sr; their son: Hunter H. New, Jr., son-in-law Bennie H. Willing; grandson, Ronald O'Brian New, II. The family would like to express special thanks to Trinity Mission Health and Rehab for the care given their loved one. ©
