Master Corporal Sandra Elizabeth "Sandy" Rogers

AIKEN – Master Corporal Sandra Elizabeth
"Sandy" Rogers, 48, died after being shot during a traffic stop
Saturday morning in the City of Aiken.
She was the daughter of Clarence Jack Rogers and the late Dr. Mary Ann
Sprawls Rogers.
She was a life long Aiken resident and a member of St. Johns United
Methodist Church. Master Corporal Rogers started working with City of
Aiken Public Safety in 1984 and was a Field Training Officer. She was a
member South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association, a member of
the South Carolina Firemen's Association, she helped the Book Bag
Program for Helping Hands, and was a mentor to a lot of troubled
individuals. Sandy loved her family and her job.
Survivors beside her father include her life partner Frances A.
Williams; a sister Virginia R. (Wade) Johnson of Aiken; two brothers,
Jack (Mary) Rodgers, Jr. Charlotte, NC., James (Mariruth) H. Rogers,
Aiken; nieces Elizabeth Ann (Joey) Lott and Kate Rogers; nephews,
William Johnson, Jr., Steven (Kim) Rogers, Michael James Rogers; a
great niece, Carleigh Elizabeth Johnson and a great nephew John Rogers.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 1:00 PM at
the University of South Carolina Aiken Convocation Center with the Rev.
Dr. George Howle officiating. Interment will follow at Historic Bethany
Cemetery downtown Aiken. Pallbearer's will be her shift coworkers,
Teddy Umsted, Mat Braxton, Karl Odenthal, Billy Cameron, Jason Fogle,
Carlos Colindres, Jacob Pridgen, Timothy Hawkes, Brenton Russo, Brandon
Bethman. Honorary pallbearers will be City of Aiken Public Safety, Ryan
Sparling, and Law Enforcement Officers.
Memorials may be directed to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 104
Newberry St. NW., Aiken, SC 29801 or USCA Lucile and Maldon Sprawls
Nursing Scholorship Fund, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, SC 29801.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Tuesday at SHELLHOUSE
FUNERAL HOME, 924 HAYNE AVE. AIKEN, SC 29801.
