Mr. William M. (Mid) Self, Jr. web posted November 6, 2009 PARKSVILLE – Mr. William M. (Mid) Self, Jr., 71, husband of Barbara Dukes Self, of Parksville, died Thursday 11-5-2009 at University Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday 11-7-2009 at 2 P.M. at Parksville Baptist Church with military honors. The family will receive friends after the Service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Mr. Self was born in Clinton and was a Retired Supervisor with Rocky River Mills in Calhoun Falls. He was a member and Sunday School Teacher at Parksville Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran and was a retired Command Sergeant Major with the South Carolina National Guard. He was a Mason, and served as a McCormick County Councilman and served on the McCormick County Water and Sewer Authority. He was a former mayor of Parksville and currently serving as a Parksville Town Councilman and also served on the Executive Committee of the Republican Party. Survivors include his wife, 2 Sons- William M. (Mid) Self, III and his wife Lee, Fairfax, Va., Howard L. Self and his wife Susan, Raleigh, N.C. 5 Grandchildren- Cassie, Taylor, Trey, Graison, and Burris. Memorials may be made to the Parksville Ruth Abel Fund, Parksville, S.C. 29844. The family is at the home. Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. © Copyright 2009
