Clarence Levi Smith

JOHNSTON – Clarence Levi Smith, 52, of 520 Rocky Creek Road, died on May 24, 2008 in Medical College of Georgia. Born in Saluda County, S.C., son of Emma Bell McKinney Smith and the late Otis M. Smith. He was a member of the Mine Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, President of the Gospel Choir, President of Mine Creek Burial Aide Society, Vice-president of Pastor Aide Society, and Church Treasurer. He was employed by Simson Lumber Company. He is survived by his mother of Johnston, S.C.; daughter, Lisa LaTonya Davis, Hephzibah and Tish Watson, Edgefield, S.C.; son, Marcus Holloway, Saluda, S.C.; siblings, Eva Mae Stevens, John Otis Smith, Willie Smith, Gregory Smith, and Lillie Mae Bledsoe all of Johnston, S.C., Joe Ben Smith, Ward, S.C., Alvin Smith, Aiken, S.C., and Dicie Smith Far Rockaway, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and other relatives. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mine Creek Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Reverend George Key. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and also 8-11 a.m. Thursday. The body will be placed in the church at 12 noon. Butler & Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, S.C., is in charge.
