Mary Charles Holmes Sowell

JOHNSTON – Graveside Services for Mrs. Mary Charles Holmes Sowell, age 76, will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11 o'clock at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bland Funeral Home Monday evening from 5- 7 pm. Mrs. Sowell died Friday, January 14, 2011. She was born in Augusta, GA, a daughter of the late Charlie and Zilla Smyer Holmes. Mary Charles was a retired school teacher having taught in Edgefield County Schools for a number of years and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. She is survived by sons: Charles Sowell and Joey (Marsha) Sowell; daughters: Missy (Paul) Sowell, and Elizabeth Sowell; sister: Margaret Ann Noel; grandsons: J. P. and Will Aftring. Memorials may be made to SC Wildlife Dept. of Natural Resources, Rembert C. Dennis Building, 1000 Assembly St., Columbia, SC 29201
