William C. Weaver

EDGEFIELD – The Reverend William C. Weaver entered into eternal rest at Edgefield County Hospital Saturday, May 16. He was a son of the late Allen and Minnie Simpkins Weaver of Edgefield, South Carolina. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 306 Simkins Street, Edgefield, South Carolina, on Saturday, May 23 at 12 noon. Friends may view the remains Friday at G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary or at the church Saturday between 10:30 and 11:45. The interment will be at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Highway 23. Father Weaver was a graduate of Edgefield Academy and Voorhees School and Junior College. He served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Allen University with a B.A. degree in Social Studies. He earned a Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree from the Philadelphia Divinity School and a Master of Divinity degree from the Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Survivors are his wife of 39 years, Virginia Dawkins Weaver; two sons, William C. (Clintona) Weaver, II, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, James Allen (Crystal) Weaver, Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Loyd Weaver of Edgefield, the Rev. Dr. Allen Paul (Nettie) Weaver, Jr., New Rochelle, N.Y.; two sisters, Elease McPhatter, Gainesville, Fla., Louise Weaver, Orlando, Fla.; three grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the members of the Episcopal Church of the Ridge for their kindness and loving care during his illness, Augusta Oncology, especially Dr. Squires, Karla and Krystal, Dr. Elean Leaphart, Dr. B.E. Nicholson, and the staff of Edgefield County Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Father Weaver to the Edgefield County Hospital Auxiliary, 300 Ridge Medical Plaza, Edgefield, S.C. 29824, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to G. L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, 250 Coral Street, Edgefield, S.C. 29824. The telephone number is (803) 637-4900.
