R. Vernon Whitlock web posted June 4, 2011 TRENTON – Mr. R. Vernon Whitlock, 89, of Whitlock Rd., husband of Jackie Smith Whitlock, died Saturday June 4, 2011 at the V.A. Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held Monday June 6, 2011 at 2 P.M. at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home with Masonic Rites. Mr. Whitlock was a native of Trenton, S.C. and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a Retired Construction Worker at E.I. Dupont and he was a Navy Veteran of WW II. He was a member of the American Legion, he was a Mason, and he was a member of the Shriner’s Hejaz Temple Saluda Shrine Club. Survivors include his wife, 2 Daughters- Vonnie W. Rutland, Ridge Spring, Kitty W. Crumpton, Saluda; 3 Step-daughters- Vickie Robertson, Trenton, Janet Rowe, Saluda, Joleen Sanders, San Antonio, TX; 1 step-son- Hank Robertson, Saluda.; 2 Brothers- Bill and Glenn Whitlock, Trenton; 1 Sister- Dorothy Chastek, Silver Springs, NY.; 10 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Saluda Shrine Club, 296 Artemus Rd. Ward, S.C. 29166.
