PREVIEW REVIEW!

O'Charley's

1685 South Aiken Lane (Whiskey Road)
Aiken SC, 29803

Dining Review Team

DINING – One of the EdgefieldDaily.com Dining Review Teams was invited to a pre-grand opening treat at the new O’Charely’s Restaurant in Aiken, SC. Located just 8.2 miles off of I-20 and Highway 19 and just over 20 miles from I-20 and Highway 25 on Whiskey Road the food is well worth the drive. Though we do not focus on eateries outside our county, we made an exception due to the proximity.

We arrived at O’Charely’s promptly at 6:00 pm on Sunday and were seated within three minutes. The wait staff was very friendly and took our beverage order immediately. Returning shortly with the beverages our orders were placed. The appetizer was the Best of O’Charely’s combo, a mixture of Pepper Jack Cheese Wedges, Chicken O’Tenders and Over-Loaded Potato skins ($9.49). The entrées chosen were the 12 oz Choice Ribeye ($16.49) with baked potato and the 9 oz Choice Filet Mignon ($17.99) with loaded baked potato.

The salads arrived a short time later; the Caesar Salad was wonderful with just the right amount of dressing. The house salad was served with the vinaigrette, which was a bit too sweet for one of our reviewers.

The appetizer was served a few minutes later, and what a treat it was. The Pepper Jack Cheese Wedges were delicious with the accompanying marinara sauce. The over-loaded potato skins were served with sour cream on the side and were just as tasty with or without the sour cream, and the chicken tenders, with a honey mustard sauce, were tender and crispy.

Within twenty minutes the main course was served. The aged beef was the best we have had since we began our reviews. Steak knives were provided, but were not needed. Cooked to perfection both steaks were the most tender we have encountered while doing reviews. The seasoning was wonderful and though steak sauce was provided it would be a shame to have used it. Juicy and mouthwatering taste came with each bite.

To cap off a fantastic meal was a super-rich five layer chocolate cake, which has to be served on a dinner platter due to the size. Moist and rich the cake slice is more than two can eat.

O’Charley’s is well worth the ride to Aiken, SC for a wonderful dining experience. In our category for steaks, it ranks at the top!
