Letter to the Editor

Property Owner Praises County Administrator for "Job well done"

web posted April 23, 2013

Dear Editor,
I would like to take the time to thank Edgefield County Administrator, Lynn Strom, for a job well done. I own a large tract of timberland located on a dirt road in Edgefield County but currently live southeast of Atlanta. The road had a gravel surface up to the one and only house on that road. At that point, the gravel stopped and was nothing but red clay from that point on.

The driveway to my property was beyond this gravel and when it rained, the road got mighty slick. I sent an email to Mrs. Strom requesting that the gravel be extended just a short distance to my drive and explained that I was eventually going to tear up the road turning in and out of my drive when it was wet.

Three days later I received a reply stating that it had been taken care of the day before. When I came down this past weekend I was surprised to find the entire dirt road with a nice layer of gravel on it.

I would like to thank her for the prompt response and let everyone in Edgefield county know that they have a competent administrator on the job. Not every administrator realizes that the road system is a valuable asset to the county and the public, even a dirt road.

Sincerely,
Mark L. Hare

Atlanta, Ga
