Final plans being made for Heritage Festival web posted August 23, 2006 PSA – The Edgefield Heritage Jubilee is fast approaching and organizers are making final plans and rounding up the final loose ends Joel Jolly said Tuesday. A meeting of volunteers will be held next Tuesday night at 6:30 at the Edgefield Town Hall. So far carnival rides, a Barbeque Cook-off competition, Antique Tractor competition, Food and Craft vendors, and entertainment have been confirmed with others still left to confirm. The festival will be held October 20 – 21, 2006 at the Kendall Mill grounds. Mr. Jolly stated that final plans have not been made as committees were still meeting to bring the festival together. “We’re going to try to do some of that at the meeting next week,” Mr. Jolly said. With the Barbeque Cook-off competition being added John Cheatham and Mr. Jolly attended the South Carolina Barbeque Association festival workshop in Columbia in late June. In a release Mr. Jolly said, “We came away from the meeting with a definite desire to work towards linking our festival to a local charity.” No charity has been identified. The organizers have already been contacted by professional cookers in the region. If you would like to volunteer to help, or apply to be a vendor or competitor in a competition, you are asked to contact Joel Jolly at 803-637-1900 or 803-275-7404. You may e-mail the festival at eheritagefest@yahoo.com Maps and more information may be found at the Town of Edgefield's web site linked here. For
